National Tourism Agency participated at ITB Berlin Fair, open from 6 to March 10, 2013, attended by 188 countries and 10086 exhibitors. At our stand, built by contemporary concepts presented their offers about 14 local tour operators.
National Tourism Agency declared objective: Albania tourist spot throughout the year. Albania was presented with the logo: Albania, Europe,'s Last Secret (Albania, Europe's last secret).
Visitor interest was too great. Meetings, establish contacts, exchange of ideas on the development of the tourism sector, obtaining information about tourist offers in Albania, were standing all the days of the fair.
The Albanian delegation in Berlin, led by Minister of Tourism, Culture, Youth and Sports, Mr. Aldo, who from the outset of his agenda took part in a meeting on the topic: Understanding the standards and management qualities in the tourism sector of Eastern Europe, Albania focus.
Bumci Minister said that after 2000, when the country was more open to Europe, foreign tour operators began to show interest in Albania. He identified three ways that the Albanian succeeded. First, according to Mr. Minister, are human resources, where over 1.5 million Albanians migrated mainly in Greece and Italy, and employed in the service sector in Albania brought the experience gained in these countries, opening businesses in this sector. Secondly, the minister said Bumçi investments in vocational education, with 12 schools that offer vocational training in tourism and 9 universities have departments that specialize in this sector. The Minister Bumci, highlighted the facilities created in recent years by the government, in order to develop tourism. Mr. Bumci stressed that Albania is much easier to do business in tourism, after being down a set of bureaucratic hurdles.
Development of tourism in Albania was observed during a special press conference. Minister of Tourism, Culture, Youth and Sports, Mr. Aldo Bumci made to reporters prestigious audiovisual media and print a presentation of Albania as a destination with a rich cultural heritage and UNESCO protected world, citing Butrint, Gjirokastra, Berat, and numerous archaeological parks.
Given the diversity of tourism resources, tourism minister said that Albania is now ready to be promoted mainly in Germany and Italy. He described Germany as the most important country in Europe and largest exporter of tourists and Italy as a neighboring country where a significant community of Albanians.
Minister Aldo during their stay in Berlin Book Fair, held several meetings, among which representatives of the World Tourism Organization. The Minister also visited the stand of the Republic of Kosovo, where he met and talked with Deputy Trade and Industry Mr. Cuneyd Ustaibo.
During this exhibition stand of Albania was visited by a member of the German government, Mr. Dirk Niebel, Minister of Economic Cooperation and Development.
In the meeting held with the Director of the National Tourism Agency Mrs. Brikena Arapaj, talked about the development of tourism in Albania, the interest of German operators for our country, and a number of other elements in terms of participation of Albania in the Tourism Fair in Berlin.
Billboard Albania was among the most visited. NTA Director, Ms. Brikena Arapaj, said that during the first days of the fair is a wide interest in our cultural heritage, for adventure, for camping, rafting, unlike other years, where promotion has been focused only on the Albanian coast. This makes us very happy and satisfied, because ACT has launched its new slogan, Albania tourist spot throughout the year and it helps us to continue our promotion during all seasons, she said.
Great interest shown by the media and journalists most prestigious in the world, as Euronews, CNN, BBC, TV5 Monde, and many print media journalists operating prestigious worldwide. NTA Director, Ms. Brikena Arapaj, stated that their interest was different but the goal was the same, you know closely Albania. They had heard that Albania has been developing over the years. Some of them were affected and Albania years ago and wanted to visit again, so that their material will appear on television or in their print media was as the original.
