On 29 November 2013, it was held in Essen, Germany the first Economic Conference, on "Alternative & Integrated Tourism - Albania, Kosovo & Pollog Region", organized by IDEAL - Integrative German-Albanian Association.
This Conference was attended by the German State Secretary, the Mayor of the city of Essen, representatives of the Ministry of Urban Development and Tourism, Ministry of Economic Development, Trade and Energy in Albania, the National Tourism Agency, Chamber of Commerce, Ministry of Economic Development in Kosovo, Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Rural Development of Kosovo, Tirana International Airport / AviAlliance, GIZ Association, Friendrich-Ebert Foundation, Raiffeisenbank, Evroenergie, DeveloPPP Programs, the Directorate of Investment, ProCredit Bank AG.
The NTA Director, Ms. Julinda Dhame, in her speech emphasized the importance of tourism to the economic development of Albania, as well as the need to build a model for respiration and growth. Following, she spoke about the Albanian traditions such as the hospitality, the cultural heritage, handicrafts, ethnography and bioculture. In conclusion, Mrs. Dhame said that Albania has the potential to develop tourism and is a country that with a little more work a great deal can be achieved. Creating a brand in the organic food market, spelling out the characteristics of a country where various cultures have coexisted, mapping/cataloging hundreds of castles, fortifications and ancient constructions, or teaching young people to love craft work as an opportunity for economic empowerment, are some of the work aspects that require the support and partnership of foreign agencies mainly those European.
