During the year 2010, tourism in Albania has already increased with 20 percent compared with 2009, and it is expected to be consolidated in coming months. Last year, the total number of tourists that have visited Albania, has increased with 42 percent compared with 2008. This sector has increased with an average of 20 percent during the last five years. The growth of the Albania economy is one of the most evident in Europe for example, in 2009, the foreign investments increased with 59 percent compared with the year 2008.
The government of Prime Minister Berisha has developed favorable conditions to attract tourists and investors, having as main aim of his government, the infrastructure and especially the roads.
Significant efforts have been made in the legislative sector, in order to have more secure investments.
The introduction of flat tax of 10 percent has made possible that investments in Albania are actually more favorable than in other European countries. From the tourist perspective, Albania has to offer a wide range of opportunities for every preference, from the sea coast and the mountains with the typical villages, to the night life that is offered in cities like Durres, without forgetting the traditional food and the delicious wine.
